“Pitch" Fever

Cold Summer’s long days are in! Freshly Mowed lawns are in! A bare patch amidst the green lawn is in and draws lot of attention! Boundaries are stretched far and wide to the limits. The 1st and the 2nd ranked candidates are slugging it out. What is it? What are we referring to?

Well the oldest cricketing competition is on at the Ol’’blighty. The “Ashes” -on air.
The Englishmen claim that they have got ammunition to tame the Wallabies.
The Aussies reply as emphatic as ever, “They always Say”. Amidst all the hype and the hoopla the world champions wall(oped)abied the Poms after the initial hiccups at the “Home”.
It is Ironic that the contest between Australia and England couple of Non English players did well for the Englishmen, Kevin Pietersen the South African and the Papua-new-Guinea Born Geraint Jones, although Jones was more a Goal keeper than a Wicket keeper.

It has been 16 years since the Aussies had their grip on the Urn, Since 1989 Allan Border, Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh have all tasted Ashes success, now it’s Ricky Ponting’s turn do the same.

“Fanatics” from Australia and the “Barmy army” from England will be going at each other and would be testing their Vocal chords. The wizard of Oz would be spinning his magic web; Brett lee will be spitting Fire, Glen “The Machine” McGrath would be on target, Jason Gillespie will be nagging, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn would be ready to feast on the English bowling.

On the other hand Steve Harmison has tasted blood literally, Michael Vaughn confused but still the Englishmen would be giving a good fight. After all’s said and done Ashes is still the most anticipated competition in the cricketing field.
