“Pitch" Fever

Cold Summer’s long days are in! Freshly Mowed lawns are in! A bare patch amidst the green lawn is in and draws lot of attention! Boundaries are stretched far and wide to the limits. The 1st and the 2nd ranked candidates are slugging it out. What is it? What are we referring to?

Well the oldest cricketing competition is on at the Ol’’blighty. The “Ashes” -on air.
The Englishmen claim that they have got ammunition to tame the Wallabies.
The Aussies reply as emphatic as ever, “They always Say”. Amidst all the hype and the hoopla the world champions wall(oped)abied the Poms after the initial hiccups at the “Home”.
It is Ironic that the contest between Australia and England couple of Non English players did well for the Englishmen, Kevin Pietersen the South African and the Papua-new-Guinea Born Geraint Jones, although Jones was more a Goal keeper than a Wicket keeper.

It has been 16 years since the Aussies had their grip on the Urn, Since 1989 Allan Border, Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh have all tasted Ashes success, now it’s Ricky Ponting’s turn do the same.

“Fanatics” from Australia and the “Barmy army” from England will be going at each other and would be testing their Vocal chords. The wizard of Oz would be spinning his magic web; Brett lee will be spitting Fire, Glen “The Machine” McGrath would be on target, Jason Gillespie will be nagging, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn would be ready to feast on the English bowling.

On the other hand Steve Harmison has tasted blood literally, Michael Vaughn confused but still the Englishmen would be giving a good fight. After all’s said and done Ashes is still the most anticipated competition in the cricketing field.

    Sathya the incorrigible!

I still remember how much fanatic Sathya was about Jadeja and his cricket – Doesn’t seem that he has changed atleast a bit ! Well, but then, whatever Satya does he does the best (I lie a lot, don’t I ?)

But, true as he says a feeling buried deep down says – “England should make it”. Well before the urn of ashes feel into our focus, the English were actually doing well and unlike the previous three ashes people dared utter “Hey there seems to be a chance… !”
Sigh don’t see anything on that front happng now !

    Luv,
    Somesh.

    Somesh Sayz :

Hey Sathya !!! Wish you a very Happy B'day !!

And by the way, I would like to change my question to who are the last two indian cricketers who have scored a century on test debut ! I am given to understand that there might be a very lesser known cricketer who has also done this feat for India.

“As I’m suffering from fever "- (to be read in vivek's style in minnale) - This was my instant brain response when I read this post's title.

As I’m not a big cricket buff like sathya, I’ll react to this post as Shane Warne would react to his allegations. No no, I’m not gonna any send SMS! Just stay quiet and nod along!!!

Good to see somesh frequenting sathya's post, buddy ... keep posting !

All said, Sathya - this post is shorter, sweeter and much crispier than the butter biscuit that I used to have during my school days!
